Some periods are just nice like that.
These coming weeks are ridden with projects and shows, both domestic and in Europe.
Reason enough to send an update.


I have two shows coming up with the very inspiring trumpet player AXEL DORNER, who for years has been one of my favorite musicians. The shows are arranged by the outstanding Israeli Saxophone player Ariel Shibolet.We will play one show in Jerusalem as part of the Wiretapping series at Barbur gallery and the following day a show at Levontin 7 in Tel Aviv, after Axel’s workshop.20.10 at 20:30 – Barbur Gallery, Jerusalem

21.10 at 19:00 – Levontin 7, Tel Aviv

These concerts may or may not include Alex Drool on the lineup.

The project is part of Goethe Institute’s Berlin Dayz festival.

HYPERION live in Berlin and new CD
Following our quite successful shows in Tel Aviv and in Bucharest, the Hyperion Ensemble is heading for two shows in Berlin next week.Focusing primarily on the music of Romanian Spectral composers Iancu Dumitrescu and Ana Maria Avram, Hyperion Ensemble consists of top players and improvisers such as Chris Cutler, Tim Hodgkinson and Stephen O’Malley. These concerts include the premiere of a new piece by Dumitrescu, written for 2 guitars, No Input Mixer and computer assisted sounds.Hyperion’s upcoming Berlin shows are:

In this 2nd show, at NK, Hyperion will perform my new piece UURUT, which is my first foray into the minute world of Just Intonation tuning. Festival Page

In other Hyperion news, the third CD from our 2011 recordings is out now on Edition Modern (EDMN 1031) under the title “Paris – London (III). Spectrum XXI Festival”. It features three pieces by Iancu Dumitrescu, including “Sound source” (1969 – 2011) for ensemble and no-input mixer, and two Chiaroscuro trios by Ana-Maria Avram.
